Friday May 8, 2026 at 10:00 PM, Teatri di Vita hosts the screening of the film Lagūna.
On the Pacific coast of Mexico, in the land that Ina Marija chose as her home before her premature death, her sister Una and her father Šarūnas set out on a journey to retrace her steps. As Giampiero Raganelli has written, for the renowned Lithuanian director, processing the grief for his daughter takes the form of a journey with his other daughter, through the Mexican mangrove forest in contact with the indigenous population, with an awareness of the natural cycles of life and death, and the serene acceptance found in indigenous culture. A cathartic immersion outside civilization that is also a plunge into his cinema, its characteristic atmospheres and themes. Šarūnas Bartas is a director and producer and one of the most significant figures in Baltic cinema. After his early films Trys dienos and Koridorius (presented in Bologna in collaboration with the Cineteca, as part of the festival that Teatri di Vita dedicated to Lithuania in 1996), he went on to create numerous other works such as Few of Us, Namai, Freedom, and Frost, which have been featured at major international festivals, winning numerous awards from Berlin to Cannes, from Venice to San Sebastián.
