On Tuesday, January 6 2026, at 6:00 p.m., at the Teatro Duse in Bologna, the Christmas show The Snow Queen by Fantateatro, freely inspired by the fairy tale of the same name by Hans Christian Andersen, will take the stage.
The protagonists of the story are Kay and Gerda, two children bound by a deep and sincere friendship. One day, however, a fragment of a magical mirror — created by an evil troll — ends up in Kay’s eye. From that moment on, the boy changes: he becomes cold, distant, and harsh, even toward Gerda.
During a day of playing in the snow, Kay encounters the mysterious Snow Queen, who kidnaps him and, with an enchanted kiss, makes him forget everything and prevents him from feeling the cold. Taken to her icy kingdom, Kay falls under the power of her spell. Gerda, determined to find her best friend, embarks on a long and courageous journey, facing obstacles, dangers, and magical creatures. Her sincere love and strength of spirit guide her through enchanted landscapes and breathtaking adventures, in the hope of saving Kay and bringing him back home.
A show with strong visual impact, enriched by evocative sets, special effects, dances, and engaging music, transporting the audience into a fairy-tale world immersed in the atmosphere of Christmas.
A poetic and moving story that invites us to rediscover fundamental values such as friendship, hope, and the power of pure love — capable of melting even the coldest of hearts.
Playwriting and direction: Sandra Bertuzzi
The proceeds from the show will be donated to the Casa dei Risvegli Luca De Nigris, an innovative public facility of the Bologna Local Health Authority dedicated to assistance and research on coma, as part of the “Befana for the Casa dei Risvegli Luca De Nigris” initiative.
