Gioachino Rossini’s playful farce Il signor Bruschino, or rather the son
by chance on a libretto by Giuseppe Maria Foppa, belongs to the group
of five farces that the author wrote for the Teatro San Moisè in Venice.
The brilliant and lively opera recounts the mockery devised by
Florville who, to marry his beloved Sofia, pretends with her guardian to
be the son of Signor Bruschino, to whom the old Gaudenzio has already
promised the young woman in marriage.
