On Sunday, April 12, 2026, Chiara Becchimanzi will perform on stage at the Locomotiv Club in Bologna.
What would the tragic, comic, and mythological heroines who founded Western culture say if they were called on stage for a stand-up comedy monologue? And how do the stories of Antigone, Electra, Medea, Lysistrata, and others intertwine with contemporary life? How do they archetypically influence the choices of women and men of our time?
Chiara Becchimanzi attempts to give a very personal (and certainly inadequate) answer to these questions, mixing her own tragicomic experiences with those outlined by the Hellenic poets—who, coincidentally, are all men. And if those heroines had been described by women, would we have inherited the same stories or not?
A comic play in which acting, stand-up comedy, and narrative theater come together to trace unexpected and possible connections between eras, perceptions, syndromes, Hellenistic complexes, and the history of psychoanalysis. And if after reading this synopsis your expectations are too high, don't worry: the artist will take care of bringing them crashing down. But in the meantime, thank the gods, he will make you laugh.
