Among the places that symbolize Bolognese hospitality, the Osteria del Sole holds a place of honor. Founded in 1465, this historic tavern has welcomed generations of pilgrims and the families of patients admitted to the nearby Vita and Morte hospitals.
Despite the passing centuries, the Osteria has managed to preserve its original character. Even today, it offers refreshment to travelers passing through the historic center, upholding a centuries-old tradition: it serves only wine, while food may be brought in from outside.
For an authentic experience, we recommend preparing a generous “scartoz”—the typical Bolognese paper cone—filled with local cured meats and cheeses. Once seated at the weathered wooden tables, you can enjoy your meal accompanied by a glass of wine selected from the Osteria’s extensive cellar.
A true journey through time, where past and present come together over a glass of wine.
