Updated on 08 May 2026 From Federico Farinelli
Spring is the perfect time to discover events, tastings and outdoor experiences to enjoy. May, in particular, is packed with wine events in Bologna and food and wine gatherings taking place across the historic centre and the hills around Bologna.
It’s a chance to discover wineries and winemakers—both local and from further afield—take part in tastings of their wines, and experience the region’s villages, rolling hills and exclusive venues.
Below is a selection of wine-themed events in Bologna and the surrounding area to enjoy spring in the name of good taste.
In the historic centre of San Giorgio di Piano (BO), San Giorgio Di Vino returns on 9 and 10 May 2026, a wine event
now in its fifth year.
Along the arcades of the historic centre, over 65 wineries from across Italy and
abroad will bring to life a market exhibition featuring tasting stands and the opportunity
to buy directly, in a down-to-earth setting designed to introduce
even non-experts to the world of wine.
The event offers guided tastings with Master Sommeliers, a craft and
farmers’ market, competitions and special events,
showcasing the regions of the Colli
Bolognesi and Emilia-Romagna with a rich gastronomic offering.
As in previous years, the event will support charitable projects in the
San Giorgio di Piano area.

In the charming village of Dozza, the Wine Festival returns on 9 and 10 May 2026, an event dedicated to the region’s finest wines, with activities for adults and children. Amidst painted walls and panoramic views, the streets of the historic centre come alive with tasting stalls where visitors can sample wines from local wineries, purchasing the event’s official wine glass.
The event is accompanied by a packed programme of activities ranging from gastronomy and music to cultural events, offering an immersive experience of wine, art and tradition.

The modern The Social Hub is hosting an event that combines
wine, music and prints.
