Bologna and its surrounding area has a wealth of discount outlet malls and shopping centres for clothing, household goods, electronics, perfumes and much more. The city is a magnet for shoppers who love Italy's great tradition of big brands – including luxury marques.

Galleria Cavour


Starting from the city centre, a stone's throw from Piazza Maggiore and walking along the UNESCO Porticoes of Via Farini, you will reach Galleria Cavour, an extra-elegant shopping centre that hosts the world's most prestigious and exclusive fashion and high jewellery brands. Amidst dreamy lighting and fittings, personalised service and unique boutiques, the shopping experience in the Cavour Gallery is far from being forgotten.

Just 20 minutes from Bologna, this outlet mall boasts over 100 prestige-brand discount stores. A veritable shopping citadel for lovers of fashion, sportswear and household goods.

While away the day among the mall’s stores and food outlets. Strategically located near the A14 motorway Castel San Pietro exit, it also has a free shuttle service from the local railway station. 

 

DesignerOutlet Barberino

The Designer Outlet Barberino lies nestled in the hills between Bologna and Florence, about an hour's drive from the Emilia-Romagna capital. It's the perfect destination for a day's shopping, with more than 120 shops and 200 brands to choose from, collections discounted up to 70% all year round, bars and restaurants to relax in and a play area for the youngsters. Big names in Italian international and fashion brought together in a shopping village set amidst in the Mugello landscape and well-connected to the adjacent Florence to Bologna A1 motorway – Barberino di Mugello exit.

If you want to treat yourself to some underwear and knitwear shopping, Cadriano, north of Bologna, has an outlet by a well-known Veronese holding company that will please everyone. Fashion and classic underwear, hosiery, socks, swim and beachwear, knitwear and... wine.

Casalecchio di Reno is a great shopping destination: it's home to several shops, megastores, shopping centres Shopville Gran Reno and the Meridiana mall. The Centro Commerciale Gran Reno is set on two floors and hosts an impressive 45 stores, as Primark, open on August. An excellent solution if you want to find lots of shops in one place without straying too far from Bologna.

On the other side of the regional capital the Centro Nova in Castenaso is worth a visit: its attractions include a supermarket and informal restaurants, as well as stores selling clothes, electronics and perfumes.

If you’re in the airport area and have time to shop, the Centro Borgo is ideal for a few hours of retail relaxation in this well-known centre.

Moving to Bologna, the Centro Lame and Parco Commerciale Meraville are the city's shopping landmarks outside the central area. Convenient and accessible by public transport, they offer a variety of store types ranging from clothing to DIY.
