Bologna is the perfect city to explore with children: with its UNESCO-listed porticoes, green spaces and plenty of family-friendly activities, there’s no shortage of opportunities to have fun together.
Whether you’re planning a family weekend away or looking for ideas to keep the little ones entertained during a holiday, you’ll find amusement parks, adventure parks and play areas designed for all ages in the city’s surroundings.

Among the parks open all year round, we recommend Luna Farm, a farm-themed amusement park for children and families, with a 6,500 m² indoor area featuring 14 attractions, a games area, a refreshment area and a merchandise shop. Here, the rides spin, bounce and whirl non-stop, and children can paint on the walls without being told off!

In San Lazzaro di Savena, just a few kilometres from the city centre, the Parco della Resistenza is hosting the exhibition ‘Dinosaurs in the Flesh’. Take a step back into prehistory to the time when these enormous creatures roamed the Earth and discover how they shaped the history of human evolution. Open by appointment only.
Who can identify the different species of dinosaurs in the park?

A 30-minute drive from Piazza Maggiore, in the Bologna plain, you’ll find Balloon Park in Villanova di Castenaso (BO), a 750-square-metre play area with inflatables and rides designed for children aged 0 to 6, with a fixed entry fee. Here you can organise an afternoon with no time limit for climbing, sinking into the ball pit and interacting with other children.

Recently opened in the north of Bologna is Beautiful Gallery Waterplay, a temporary water park set up in the outdoor areas of Grand Tour Italia. Open from 16 May to 13 September 2026, children and their families can enjoy water games and over 10 attractions: giant all-white inflatables, relaxation areas in the orchard, sand games, two ball pools separated by age group and, above all, the first-ever ‘water balloon beach’.
Summer in Bologna will have a whole new flavour! More information on the official website.

Among the adventure parks in the hills around Bologna, Cavaioni Adventure Park is now open, perfect for enjoying the natural surroundings just outside the city, a mere 10 minutes from the centre. With 7 courses for children (from 100 cm in height) and 9 courses for teenagers and adults, fun is guaranteed.

In Monghidoro, however, don’t miss out on the thrill of enjoying wonderful parent-child adventures at Triton’s Park, an adventure park nestled in the greenery of Monte Oggioli at an altitude of 1,000 metres. The park features a variety of trails: five for adults and two for children, with varying levels of difficulty. Here you can also stop for a picnic in the designated area with barbecue facilities, enjoy a pond with newts, and soak up the lush green surroundings.

Here, children love to dive down the slides and have splashing contests, and the park also boasts an incredible view of the rolling green hills that even help relieve parents’ stress.
