Varignana Palace

Wrapped in the silent magic of the Bolognese hills, Varignana Palace dominates from above the town from which it takes its name.  

The heart of the resort is Bentivoglio Palace, a country castle with four traditional towers dated 1705, renovated respecting the charm of its history. The main historic building is surrounded by a contemporary hamlet built in stone, according to an architecture that is consistent and harmonious with the surrounding landscape. Surrounding the complex are 30 hectares of land among vast green spaces, breathtaking views and a splendid Ornamental Garden, included in the prestigious network Grandi Giardini Italiani. A model of original and sustainable hospitality that boasts 150 rooms, five restaurants, elegant spaces dedicated to ceremonies, events and conferences. Completing the picture is a 360-degree wellness offer with the more than 4,000 square meters of Varsana SPA, remise en forme programs designed according to the Acquaviva Method, sports fields and outdoor trails.

The recovery project that inspired the rebirth of Bentivoglio Palace has also involved the surrounding area over time: Varignana Palace has in fact chosen to recover ancient farmsteads, transforming them into six private Villas and enhancing their wealth by starting its own farm, a set of lands that have now reached over 650 hectares, from which high quality zero-mile products are born and a new hospitality proposal, thanks to the Country House Oliveto Sul Lago, a farmhouse with swimming pool and 12 rooms.  

The flagship of this history is the vocation to restore the ancient varieties of olive trees, which extending today in 242 hectares allow the production of an extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality that has won awards and recognition all over the world. To the olive groves are added 57 hectares of vineyards, three thousand meters of vegetable garden, a vast orchard and a very original and rare production of saffron. Raw materials grown on our lands are used in the preparation of dishes in the resort's restaurants and in the Varsana SPA cosmetic line.
