The Pepoli family, a prominent Bolognese seigniory, were among the great land reclaimers of this district of Crevalcore, whose name is closely linked both to the history of land reclamation and to its members, including Count Filippo Pepoli, who around 1540 had the famous castle built, and in 1570, in partnership with Emilio Zambeccari, rented the adjacent land to reclaim it. The austere quadrangular building with central turret was restored following the 2012 earthquake: the castle now boasts a porticoed courtyard, while the small, well-preserved oratory and villa park will complement your visit to this building of major historical importance.
