The Museum is a well-structured exhibition dedicated to the ancient puppetry art; on display there are baracche (Italian word for "bunkhouses", referring in this context to the small wooden theatre where the puppet show takes place) and marionettes, backdrops and tools, clothes, accessories and everything a puppeteer may need to do his job.
In the via Garibaldi rooms there are on display more than one-hundred marionettes from the first half of the 20th-century, belonging to the Bolognese puppeteers Amilcare Gabrielli, Arturo Veronesi and Umberto Malaguti. The Museum section located inside the "Casina del Quattrocento" hosts themed temporary exhibitions and the extraordinary collection of marionettes, pupi, puppets, shadows, toy houses, sceneries, props and documents belonging to the puppeteers Vittorio Zanella and Rita Pasqualini, who periodically organize two related events: "Burattinando a Teatro" and "Festival internazionale delle Mani Parlanti".
