The Museum is an environment where the visitors can find and learn about the anthropomorphic sandstones, called “Botroidi”, collected by the pioneer of the speleology Luigi Fantini along the river Zena in the early 1900s. The geological path allows the visitors to discover the story of the Earth in a direct and engaging way, through colour – touch – smell. It’s a real journey through 80 million years of history, going from the Cretaceous to the present day and getting in contact with fossils, yellow sands and mysterious stones. In the city of Bologna, the place where the word “geology” was invented by Ulisse Aldrovandi in 1603, there is now the opportunity to find a new, fun and exciting geology. The Museum is located into the hamlet Tazzola, an ancient village dating back to 1100, along the beautiful path CAI 815, that connects the Castle of Zena and the Mount of Ants, passing the Heir Tower (built in 1100).
