HOW TO REACH BOLOGNA


TRAVELLING BY TRAIN

In the Central Train Station’s West Wing you can find the so named “Sala Blu” (Blue Hall), the office in charge of providing assistance to disabled passengers. Through Sala Blu you will be able to reserve train seats, receive assistance when getting on and off the trains, and get help to reach the closest bus or taxi stop around the station.

TRAVELLING BY PLANE

Bologna's Guglielmo Marconi Airport provides several services to disabled passengers, including support during the boarding process and help in moving around the airport’s different premises and wings.

The airport is connected to the city center through the Marconi Express train, accessible also to wheelchair users.

TRAVELLING BY CAR

If you are travelling by car, Bologna intersects with the two major Italian motorways that connect the north and south of the country (A1 and A14).
From Bologna you can then reach other Italian cities. Heading north towards Milan (with a diversion from Parma to Genoa), then Venice (A13) and the Brenner Pass (A22). Southwards towards Rome to Reggio Calabria (A1) and towards Bari to Lecce and Taranto (A14). 



HOW TO MOVE IN THE CITY

MOVING BY BUS

The buses that run in Bologna are equipped with a platform which allows people with wheelchair to get on and off easily. Inside the buses, there is always a specific place reserved to people in wheelchairs.

MOVING BY CAR

The old town of Bologna is a limited traffic zone from 7:00am to 8:00pm, every day. Vehicles serving disabled people must notify their access in advance and / or within the following 48 hours, filling a specific online form.

Vehicles equipped with the specific "handicap placard" can be parked in all parking spaces marked by yellow stripes - reserved for disabled people - and in those marked by blue stripes for free.


Pedestrian streets during "T-days"

During Saturdays, Sundays and all public holidays, some streets of the city center remain closed to vehicles and become completely pedestrian. Nonetheless, there are several ventures that allow disabled people to move inside the city center in complete freedom.
