Precautionary measures to experience Bologna safely

From August 6th, in compliance with the government regulations (ref. D.L. of July 23, 2021) QR code Green Certificate (Green Pass) with the identity document it is necessary in bars and restaurants (only indoors), but also in museums, shows, gyms, trade fairs, congresses, sporting events, wellness centers, spas, theme parks and entertainment, gambling halls and all competition procedures. The provisions do not apply to children under the age of 12 and to persons with specific medical certification.

From September 1st, it will be mandatory to show the Green Pass in order to travel long-distance on planes, ships, trains and buses; however it's not necessary on local and regional public transportation.

The Green Pass is issued to those who have received the first dose of vaccine, or have a certificate of healing in the previous six months, or have carried out a molecular or antigenic or salivary test in the previous 48 hours with negative result.

Hotels and Other Accommodations

Hotels and B&Bs are open. Remember to book in advance so that your hosts can guarantee you a safe stay. Visitors can expect deep and frequent cleaning and enforced social distancing measures.

Restaurants and Bars

Bars and restaurants are open for lunch and dinner.
-> At the indoor tables Green Pass will be required. There are no limitations for the outdoor tables.

Catering is still allowed with home delivery and take-away without time limitations.

Don’t forget to book a table in advance as many places have reduced capacity in order to respect distancing of at least 1m between tables. The staff will always wear a mask (and so will you, entering, exiting and whenever you leave your table) and provide you with hand sanitizer.

Shops and Markets (Plus Commercial Activities)

All shops, markets and shopping centres are open and waiting for you. You are expected to wear a face mask before entering any of these settings.
Make sure you maintain a social distance of at least 1m between other patrons. Do your best to not linger inside shops for longer than necessary.

Moving around

Taxis, buses and trains run regularly and are sanitized every day. For a safe journey follow the directions given at the stops and on the vehicles and wear the mask. You can rent cars and bikes, but book in advance, so the vehicles will always be sanitized before being delivered to you.

Tourist Offices

Tourist offices are open. Come and visit us at Bologna Welcome and eXtraBo on Mon-Sat 9am-7pm, Sun and Holidays 10am-5pm.

Museums and Exhibitions

-> From August 6th, according to the Italian government regulations, the QR Code Green Certificate (Green Pass) with the identity document it is necessary in order to access the museums.

Museums and exhibitions are fully open, with no social distancing in place, in compliance with anti-Covid measures. 

Parks, Gardens and Sport Facilities

Parks and gardens are open to walk in nature, go for a run and a breath of fresh air; please remember to respect social distancing rules and avoid large gatherings.

Swimming pools, spas, gyms, theme parks and ski facilities are regularly open.

Fairs, conventions and congresses are operating in presence, with capacity restrictions.
-> Green Pass will be required.

Religious Sights

Religious sights remain open.

Guided Tours and attractions

Guided tours regularly continue with limited participants and in compliance with anti-Covid measures.

-> IMPORTANT: please verify with the tour/attraction organization if the QR code Green Pass is required.

-> For Bologna Welcome tours and services the QR code Green Pass is required for indoor visits. If not presented, no access will be allowed and no refund will be issued.

Cultural and Leisure Activities

Cinemas and theatres are fully open. Concert halls and live clubs are open, with a limited capacity of 50% indoor and 75% outdoor. Reserving your seat is always highly suggested.

It is still mandatory to keep social distancing in outdoor and indoor spaces and wear face masks in indoor spaces.

In the white zone is allowed to travel across all territories within the same white zone, whereas travels to the national territory are permitted for proven work needs or health reasons, or if you are in possession of a valid Covid-19 green certificate.
