Hotels and Other Accommodations
Hotels and B&Bs are open. Remember to book in advance so that your hosts can guarantee you a safe stay. Visitors can expect deep and frequent cleaning and enforced social distancing measures.
Restaurants and Bars
Restaurants and bars are open regularly and are ready to welcome you to your experience of enjoying the famous bolognese cuisine, wines and beers. Don’t forget to book a table in advance as many places have reduced capacity in order to respect distancing of at least 1m between tables. The staff will always wear a mask (and so will you, entering, exiting and whenever you leave your table) and provide you with hand sanitizer.
Shops and Markets (Plus Commercial Activities)
All shops and markets are open and waiting for you – masks are obligatory for entry. Make sure you maintain a social distance of at least 1m between other patrons. Do your best to not linger inside shop for longer than absolutely necessary.

Museums and Religious Sights
Museums and churches are open and can be visited. To avoid overcrowding, each sight has its own rules with regards to planned entries and itineraries to follow. Read the rules in advance online and book to avoid surprises. Sight staff will be vigilant with respect to cleaning spaces frequented by visitor, including audio guides, bathrooms etc. Hand sanitizer will be provided.
Guided visits are operating regularly with small groups and social distancing. Don’t forget to book in advance!If audio guides are needed, your guide will provide you with a sanitized one, together with all the precautionary information needed for an enjoyable and safe experience.
Tourist offices are open with different rules of access. Come and visit us at Bologna Welcome Piazza Maggiore and eXtraBo - outdoor and surrounding information. Mon-Sat 10am-7pm; Sun and hol 11am-5pm.
- HOW CAN I VISIT SAFELY?
Safety always comes first in Bologna. All points of interest and tourist experiences – hotels, museums, restaurants, guided tours, etc – are activating special precautionary measures to protect visitors. Remember to wear a mask when indoors as well as outdoors when social distancing is not possible.
Everything can be booked in advance in Bologna. Reserve your room, a table at a restaurant or entrance to a museum to have an even more pleasant experience. For guided tours, booking is required.
It’s very easy to move around Bologna. Taxis, buses and trains are operating regularly and are sanitized daily. Make sure you follow the instructions on board and wear a mask to have a safe trip. You can also rent cars and bikes, but book in advance: these forms of transport will always be cleaned before delivery.
- HOW ABOUT EVENTS AND OTHER ACTIVITIES?
Cultural and Leisure Activities
Starting from June 15, you’ll also be able to attend theatre shows, concerts and movies, with preassigned and socially distanced seats. You'll just have to book with a bit of advance in order to enjoy live entertainment safely.
Parks, Gardens and Sport Facilities
Parks and gardens are open to walk in nature, go for a run and/or a breath of fresh air, just respect social distancing rules and avoid large gatherings. Refresh your body in total safety in one of Bologna’s pools - just remember to book your entrance to avoid lines at the entrance.
Starting from June 6th, general public events are allowed only if conducted with respect to Covid-19 required safety measures.
