Bologna's spa tradition right in the heart of the city. The centre is easy to reach, centrally located and ideal for time out in the water or for a beauty treatment. The same thermal sulphate-bicarbonate-calcium water sourced from the Alexander spring at the Terme Felsinee centre is used.
Diagnostic and specialist services are also provided by the Poliambulatorio Antalgik clinic.
Health in central Bologna
The history of Bologna has always been linked to water, from the very first spa which was created by the Emperor Augustus during Roman times to the healthy waters of Corticella in the mid-1900s.
The Terme San Petronio spa centre upholds this tradition, providing a much larger health complex which also includes a diagnostic pole that is a national excellence, specialised clinics and a physical medication and rehabilitation centre.
The Terme San Petronio is the only Italian spa located in the historic centre of a large city and it uses the sulphate-bicarbonate-calcium thermal water sourced from the historic Terme Felsinee spa, recognised by the Ministry for Health for mineral water therapy. It's rich in trace elements and contrasts the body's acidification processes, starting from the skin.
The thermal water reaches the centre via a 5km-long underground pipe installed in 2011 which passes through the route of canals built in the Renaissance which were used for the local silk works.
Petroniana spa pool with aquagym, aquafitness and aquawellness courses; salt lagoons; vascular paths; a thermal-therapeutic sauna; a thermal hammam; jet spa; multi-sensory showers; a relaxation area and gym.
