The restaurant is located in the heart of town, not far from the towers, under the typical arcades. It is one of the historical and high cuisine restaurants of the city. Its soul is Mario Ferrara, of Lucania backgrounds. He and his brother Enzo created Scaccomatto in 1987 bringing to Bologna innovation and gastronomy from their homeland.
Mario and his staff carry on an idea of ever moving cuisine, open to novelty and experiments. Its points of strength are genuineness, the quality of ingredients and the seasonal turnover of product used. The menu is rich and various. It joins meat, fish and ground in ever new and stimulating combinations, accompanied with ever different cooking methods that enhance the original taste of ingredients. Mario is a master in the use of vegetables. In the most of his plates, no matter if based on meat, fish or starters, you will always find beside a seasonal vegetable able to enhance (or to contrast) the base matter flavor. Vegetarians can find in the menu plates for them or made on demand. The wine list includes more than 300 labels coming from all Italian regions, wisely balanced in quality, price and novelty.
