Mature, golden wheat that colors the Bolognese countryside in June, is considered “the gold of the plains”, as it symbolizes fertility of the land and is a pillar of the Mediterrean diet, inextricably linked to local history and culture. From the June 22nd to the 24th, the Museum of the Rural Culture in Bentivoglio hosts the Taste Open Day, an exposition of the main agricultural processes involving the steam engine and having wheat as a protagonist. These processes used to employ steam machines, hence the name of the event “Campagna a Vapore” (Steam country): on show several operating old machines which will be explained by experts and historians. The festival will propose a rich programme of guided tours, workshops for kids and adults about Bologna plain rural tradition and tastings, that will represent a chance for culture, culinary arts and the products of the land to meet. It will also feature exhibition and selling of local products. DOWNLOAD THE BROCHURE (in Italian) More information, programme and updates www.museociviltacontadina.bo.it
