Bologna
33rd edition of the Il Cinema Ritrovato festival, held from 22nd to 30th June: 500 films in just 9 days from morning to late evening, 6 theatres and carbon arc projections in Piazzetta Pasolini turn Bologna into a heaven for cinema-lovers. A journey between the origins of cinema and newly-restored films, an adventure through space and time that gathers cinema-lovers from over 60 countries. Il Cinema Ritrovato is a dialogue on the amour du cinema with its 120 thousand spectators: screenings of exceptional quality, the discovery of rare films unknown even by the greatest experts and food for thought both inside and outside the theatre sparkdebates on cinema and culture, which nowadays are increasingly rare. A festival that makes the past present, with a varied programme gathering everything from the origins of moving images to new documentaries that put into perspective the extraordinary images that the archives managed to safeguard. This edition: Francis Ford Coppola introduces for the first time in Europe Apocalypse Now – Final cut, Jane Campion introduces the restoration of The Piano and much more...
