Bologna
He is the winner of “Premio Venezia”, one of the most prestigious national piano awards, awarded to the best graduates from Italian Conservatories. Twenty-year-old Gabriele Strata studied at the Conservatory of Venice with Riccardo Zadra and Roberto Prosseda, and is now attending Yale University with Boris Berman. For his debut in Bologna, he has chosen one of the most brilliant Chopin's compositions, thanks to its peculiar formal structure; just as complex is the structure of Liszt's composition, where the fantasy of improvisational freedom prevails. He will then examine to complementary aspects of 20th Century piano repertoire: the symbolist inspiration of Debussy's Préludes, and Bartók's Out of Doors suite, which includes an extraordinary nocturnal evocation of nature.
