55th edition of Bologna Children’s Book Fair - Fertile Ground For Children’s Content, from March 26th to 29th, 2018: a reference event for publishers, authors, illustrators, literary agents, distributors, teachers, developers, translators and all of the professions involved in the world of publishing and content for children. Every year the pavilions of BolognaFiere host exhibitors from all over the world and professionals who meet there to obtain an overview of the latest publishing and digital trends, to participate in the hundreds of workshops and conferences, and visit the exhibitions that are testimony to and often anticipate the best of international illustration. In over 50 years of its history, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair has managed to attract an increasing number of operators, extending the scope of its activities to include the world of digital publishing, apps, animation and licensing, becoming a unique and not-to-be-missed event, and the world leader in the sector for kids and young adults. The packed programme of Bologna Children’s Book Fais includes meetings, talks, international awards, exhibitions, such as the 52nd edition of the Illustrators’ Exhibition, the exhibition dedicated to Gianni De Conno, the personal shows of Manuel Marsol and Ludwig Volbeda, and the exhibit Coltivando un giovane umanesimo (Cultivating a Young Humanism). The Country Guest of Honour for 2018 is China. Chinese involvement at the Fair includes a large exhibition dedicated to the best of contemporary Chinese illustration, over 100 exhibitors, and around 3000 titles of narrative, illustrated books, cartoons, books specifically for parents to read to their children, manuals for learning Chinese and books about science. Furthermore, events and exhibitions open to the general public are also scheduled in the city. This year too, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair exits the fair district to share its content with the city. The exhibition The Extraordinary Library 2. Cinema and shows. It’s showtime - at Cineteca di Bologna from March 24th to April 28th - will feature 100 illustrated children’s books selected by the Children’s Book Fair for Pitti Immagine Bimbo 2018. It will be an opportunity to read true and fantastic stories about people, characters, jobs and places in show business, cinema, dance and song, through the illustrated pages of a selection of extraordinary books from all over the world.
