Bologna
Historic arena that, in 1960, started its activity as Arena Estiva Santa Rita, built to complement the Sants Rita cinema. It could seat 600 people. In June 1970, following the inauguration of the new Tivoli cinema on 7th March 1970, the adjacent Arena Tivoli carried on its activity with projections every night. Until digital technology became available, summertime projections saw the first part of the first projection being shown indoors while the audience moved outside for the second part. The 10.30 pm projection was held outside. A single projection per night has taken place with the arrival of digital technology, as it was rather expensive to purchase 2 projectors - at 9.30 pm in June and July and at 9 pm in August and September. This year too, Arena Tivoli will show films of cultural interest between June 30th and September 2nd.
