He is one of the best cellists of the new generation, with an outstanding technical mastery and a creativity enhanced by his skills in composition. Pupil of Giovanni Sollima and Thomas Demenga, Alessio Pianelli won many international awards, performing as a soloists with many famous orchestras. In this programme, the 19th and the 20th Century reflect one on each other as in a mirror: the nostalgic lyricism of the Fantasiestucke op.73 and the passionate eloquence of Schumann’s Adagio and Allegro refract on the reassuring cantability of Prokof’ev cello and on the peculiar overtones of Shostakovich’s Sonata, where the past and the present coexist in an ambiguous and ironic confrontation. Mario Montore, on piano, is a renowned chamber music player, often playing in duo with Pianelli.
