On 1 January 2024, the Filarmonica del Teatro Comunale di Bologna will greet the new year with a concert featuring a cycle that is rarely performed in its entirety and will be heard for the first time in our city.
The orchestra, with violin soloist Paolo Mancini, will perform an arrangement of the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla, according to the instrumentation of Vivaldi's Four Seasons: the idea came from the Latvian violinist and conductor Gidon Kremer who, by creating a poetic dialogue between these two works, succeeded in achieving an extraordinary result, capable of bringing together two masterpieces born almost 250 years apart.
Programme:
- (Vivaldi) Concerto No. 1 in E major op. 8, RV269 Spring
- (Piazzolla) Otoño porteño
- (Vivaldi) Concerto No. 2 in G minor op. 8, RV315 Summer
- (Piazzolla) Invierno porteño
- (Vivaldi) Concerto No. 3 in F major op. 8, RV293 Autumn
- (Piazzolla) Primavera porteña
- (Vivaldi) Concerto No. 4 in F minor op. 8, RV297 Winter
- (Piazzolla) Verano porteño
