At the Bologna Festival on June 19 in concert at the Basilica of Santo Stefano in Bologna, Valentina Benfenati and Leonardo Pierdomenico will perform.
Valentina Benfenati, a violinist of crystalline talent, and Leonardo Pierdomenico, a pianist on the rise, dedicate their concert to the Boulanger sisters. Nadia (1887-1979), teacher of three generations of musicians (Ibert, Gershwin, Copland, Carter, Hancock, Bernstein, Piazzolla, and Barenboim are some of the frequenters of the so-called boulangerie) and Lili (1893-1918), the first woman composer to win the coveted Prix de Rome. Around them revolve the First Sonata by Gabriel Fauré, who was Nadia and Lili's teacher, and the Sonata in A major for violin and piano by César Franck, the father of French chamber music.
