Pianofortissimo and Talenti 2026 concert, part of the Bologna Festival, in the courtyard of the Archiginnasio on 22 June 2026.
Born in Minsk in 2001 into a family of cymalom virtuosos, Uladzislau Khandohi has stood out since childhood as one of the most promising piano talents of his generation. Winner of the Grand Prix at the Mendzelevskaya Competition at the age of just ten, he embarked on a career studded with international successes that led him to study in Minsk with Irina Semenyako, at the Moscow Conservatory with Natalia Trull and subsequently in Madrid with Stanislav Ioudenitch. A prize-winner at numerous international competitions, including the Moscow ‘Nutcracker’, Cidade de Ferrol, Sanremo and La Palma d’Oro, he was a finalist at the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition. In 2023, he won third prize at the competitions in Ljubljana and Sydney. His performances at the Sydney International Piano Competition were released by Decca in 2024 and acclaimed by critics for their extraordinary interpretative clarity and technical brilliance. One of the most acclaimed pianists of the new generation, in 2024 he won the Mimas Music Festival Competition and the Dinu Lipatti Competition, whilst in 2025 he took second prize at the Iturbi International Competition in Valencia. “I want to play for the audience,” says Khandohi, “I love music for the emotions it conveys.”
