SLANCI - Approach 8. Spirale

SLANCI – Approach 8. Spirale is an event promoted by Bologna Festival and gifted to the city by Illumia on the occasion of its twentieth anniversary.

The initiative is part of the SLANCI program, created to celebrate twenty years of growth, innovation, and a forward-looking vision through an artistic experience open to the entire community.

The highlight of the evening is Approach 8. Spirale, one of the most captivating creations by French choreographer and artist Yoann Bourgeois, internationally renowned for his distinctive artistic language that combines dance, circus, and visual arts. On a constantly moving circular platform, four performers ascend and descend a staircase in a journey that seems to repeat endlessly. Between balance and falling, progress and return, the performance transforms an everyday gesture into a powerful metaphor for existence, inviting the audience to reflect on time, change, and the possibility of starting anew. The performance is accompanied by a reinterpretation of Daydreaming by Radiohead, one of the British band's most intimate and contemplative songs, whose suspended and hypnotic atmospheres resonate perfectly with Bourgeois’s poetic vision. The result is a work of remarkable evocative power, capable of transforming repetition into wonder and the search for balance into a universal image of the human condition.
