PHASME (2020) is a composition for violin, analog synthesizer and low frequency amplifier, in three movements. In this composition, the loudspeaker is considered as a tool to encourage a focused sound emission from the same vertical axis, to create an interweaving between the tones of the violin and those of the electronics. By mixing acoustic and electronic sounds, the two instrumentalists develop a heterophonic game starting from a mimetic sound material, in order to combine a focal point with a harmonic complexity that develops, by natural rebounds, in all directions. The sound propagation, unified in the acoustic space, is thus shaped in the course of the composition by the two instrumentalists, who respond to each other with various nuances. As they play facing each other, the audience surrounds them and stands as close as possible to the device, in contact with the sound emission within the acoustics.
