Tuesday 19 May, at 18:00, the Aula Absidale di Santa Lucia hosts Cristina di Belgiojoso and the Hexaméron, a lecture and concert between Liszt and Bellini.
A lecture and concert dedicated to the figure of Cristina di Belgiojoso and to the creation of the Hexaméron – Grandes Variations de Bravoure, a collective piano work by Liszt, Thalberg, Pixis, Herz, Czerny, and Chopin, in memory of Bellini.
A figure at the crossroads of culture, politics, and music: Cristina Trivulzio di Belgiojoso becomes the focus of an event that combines lecture and concert, highlighting the historical and artistic context in which the Hexaméron – Grandes Variations de Bravoure was born. The work, conceived as a collective creation, brings together leading names of 19th-century piano music and pays tribute to the memory of Vincenzo Bellini.
The contributions of Carlotta Sorba and Luca Zoppelli open up perspectives on the Princess’s personality and her role as a catalyst of cultural relationships. This is followed by a concert by Giovanni Bertolazzi, offering a highly virtuosic journey: from Liszt’s paraphrases on Verdi and Rossini to the choral piece Hexaméron, where the idea of “musical friendship” becomes form, style, and a showcase of pianistic invention.
