La Filuzzi in Piazza – Dancing night

On Friday, 14 August 2026, from 9:45 pm, Piazza Maggiore will become the "most beautiful dance hall in the city" for the return of La Filuzzi in Piazza, an event promoted by the Municipality of Bologna in collaboration with the Movement for the Promotion of Filuzzi in Bologna and the Metropolitan City.

An evening of celebration featuring live music and an open-air dance floor where everyone is invited to dance to the rhythms of polka, mazurka, and waltz.

Filuzzi is a long-standing local tradition that continues to thrive, strengthened by its recent recognition as a De.Co. (Municipal Designation of Origin) and by the Municipality's ongoing commitment to preserving Bologna's traditional social dance.

This cultural heritage lives on thanks to the dedication of local dance schools and traditional music ensembles.

Under the artistic direction of Mauro Malaguti, the evening will feature the quartet led by Massimo Budriesi.

The programme also includes two special guest performances: Gianluca Caselli, who will share how he has brought Filuzzi around the world through his harmonica, and Antonio Stragapede, who will perform the evocative "Filuzzi for Strings" on the mandolin.
