Hugo Race is a musician and record producer who first accompanied the Birthday Party and then joined Nick Cave's Bad Seeds, with whom he remained until 1984. In 1988 he formed the European-based True Spirit with whom he released 13 albums.

Since 2010 he has formed, along with Antonio Gramentieri (later replaced by Giovanni Ferrario) and Diego Sapignoli of the instrumental band Sacri Cuori, the Hugo Race Fatalists project, with which he has produced five works.
