On Saturday, March 28, 2026, at the San Colombano Museum in Bologna, students from the G. B. Martini Conservatory will perform in the concert “1626”, dedicated to the early Baroque repertoire.
The year 1626 was particularly significant in the history of music. In fact, 2026 marks the 400th anniversary of the deaths of John Dowland (1563–1626) and Giovanni Coperario, born John Cooper (1575–1626), as well as the 400th anniversary of the birth of Louis Couperin (1626–1661) and John Ferrabosco (1626–1682). The publication of Adriano Banchieri’s *Il virtuoso ritrovo academico*, Op. 49, also dates to this same year, serving as a precious testament to the vibrant musical culture of the 17th century.
A special event to listen to this music in the evocative setting of the museum, surrounded by historical instruments that tell the story of the very era in which these masterpieces were created.
