Bologna Underground - Guided tours

As every year, the month of October marks a special moment for Bologna: the Consorzio dei Canali di Bologna temporarily suspends the water flow in the city's hydraulic network to allow for necessary routine maintenance work.

From October 4 to November 2, 2025, citizens and visitors will have the exclusive opportunity to join guided tours through the underground canals, exploring evocative paths and locations usually closed to the public. An exciting journey into the hydraulic heart of the city—where historical engineering, hidden architecture, and urban memory come together. Unique Itineraries and Experiences

• 1. "The Underground of the Reno Canal" A fascinating route that begins at the ancient Guazzatoio on Via Augusto Righi and continues into the belly of Bologna, passing through the Moline Canal to the old washhouse at Palazzo Gnudi.
• 2. "Porto Experience" After the great success of its preview, the tour dedicated to the city's ancient port returns—expanded and enhanced—in collaboration with the association Succede Solo a Bologna. Starting from the Salara, the old salt and grain warehouse, the tour enters the underground section of the Cavaticcio Canal, exploring lost docks, hidden bridges, and the memories of a vanished port.
