Every year, from mid-November, the UNESCO Portico of the Church of Santa Maria dei Servi becomes the heart of Christmas in Bologna with the Ancient Fair of Santa Lucia, Bologna's most traditional Christmas market.
Amidst the aromas of nougat and brittle, warm lights and handmade decorations, the fair officially opens the festive season in the city.
Strolling among the stalls, accompanied by the music of street artists who often perform under the city's largest porticoes, you will discover nativity scene figurines, Christmas decorations and traditional sweets that have accompanied Bolognese families for centuries in the magic of Christmas.
An unmissable event rooted in the city's history since the 16th century, which continues to enchant young and old alike with its authentic atmosphere.
