The cycle of guided tours to the Basilica San Francesco in Bologna, curated by Elisa Baldini (University of Bologna), coordinator of the Art and Architecture Section "Alfonso Rubbiani" of Officina San Francesco Bologna, is back for 2024.
The basilica of St. Francis, built starting in 1236, is one of the most scenic churches in the city and probably the first dedicated to St. Francis after the one in Assisi. Its external apsidal arches are a rare example of French Gothic in Italy. As well as having great architectural charm, the church and the adjoining convent guard important moments in the history of the city, art and music.
