The Garden of Resonances

The National Museums of Bologna with MAMbo - Museum of Modern Art of Bologna present the exhibition The Garden of Resonances.

From the Pinacoteca Nazionale in Bologna to MAMbo. Two museums, two collections, a single story that you will have the pleasure of experiencing from 30 June to 14 September 2025. An exhibition that brings together masterpieces of ancient art, works rarely exhibited from storage, and the works of 16 contemporary artists from the Bologna scene.

The itinerary unfolds in the Salone degli Incamminati, where it has its fulcrum, and in the spaces of the Pinacoteca, evoking a “cultural garden” in which nature and humanity, memory and vision intertwine through painting, sculpture, video and installations. The works of Mengs, Algardi, Morandi, De Nittis, Picasso and Bacon meet those of ZAPRUDER, Eva Marisaldi, Cuoghi and Corsello, Fanny & Alexander, Emma Masut, Paolo Chiasera, and many others. A journey through air, water, inner landscapes, metamorphoses and boundaries, to the theme of instinct and love: profound forces that cross time and languages.

At MAMbo, the dialogue continues with a focus on the resonances between past and present: Renato Guttuso's I funerali di Togliatti (Togliatti's funeral) is compared to the 19th-century painting of Antonio Muzzi and Enrico Romolo, between Roman history and Risorgimento iconography.
