From Monday, May 25 to Saturday, May 30, 2026, on the occasion of the 230th anniversary of Napoleon Bonaparte’s entry into Bologna (1796–2026), Commentariolvm presents the “Napoleon in Bologna” exhibition, featuring a historical and critical journey through iconographic materials, documents and visual testimonies from the period, with the aim of restoring the complexity of an era often simplified through celebratory or ideological interpretations.
Divided into eight sections, the exhibition reconstructs the historical context of the arrival of the French troops and examines the consequences of the establishment of the new Napoleonic order.
The exhibition is curated by Commentariolvm, a university group dedicated to historical outreach.
Napoleon in Bologna is part of the 2026 historical re-enactment project “ai tre color pensando… dove il verde ridesta la memoria” organised by 8cento APS.
