The photographic exhibition Confessionali by Michael Kenna, one of the most poetic and profound voice of international contemporary photography, master of black and white landscapes and intense atmospheres, will be open until 19 October in the monumental complex of Santa Maria della Vita.
The exhibition is promoted by FSCIRE, in collaboration with Genus Bononiae as part of the G20 Interfaith Forum 2021, which the city will host from 12 to 14 September 2021.
The result of almost ten years of work, the exhibition includes 76 shots that the author made during his travels in the province of Reggio Emilia, where interest has grown around the confessionals discovered from time to time in the various local churches. They have become an exciting challenge, a new challenge to which the photographer wanted to devote exclusive attention.
Michael Kenna was born in 1953 in Widnes, Lancashire. Younger than six children, born to Irish Catholic parents, he aspired to enter the priesthood before discovering his passion for art. After attending the Banbury School of Art, Oxfordshire became a student of the London College of Printing, starting to work as an artist and photographer. He moved to San Francisco in 1977 (then to Portland and finally to Seattle, where he now lives). His black and white photographs, which focus primarily on landscapes, have been exhibited around the world.
