Bologna
From February 10th to June 17th 2018, the Pinacoteca di Bologna hosts the exhibit "I Carracci fra Natura e Storia", an event connected to the exhibition "L'eterno e il tempo tra Michelangelo e Caravaggio", Forlì, Musei San Domenico. The exhibition in Forlì plays out the charm of a century between the sunset of the last Renaissance and the new horizons of the Baroque age. Developed in national key in the exhibition, this theme finds a natural deepening for the Bolognese side in the halls of the Mannerists and of the Carracci at the Pinacoteca di Bologna. In the Pinacoteca there are some of the most significant paintings of the renewal of painting, carried out by the Carracci with their Accademia degli Incamminati which opened, after the refined and intellectual phase of Mannerism, to the study of truth and to a new awareness towards nature. Alongside the masterpieces normally exhibited here such as the Assunta by Annibale, the Pala Bargellini by Ludovico or the Comunione di San Girolamo by Agostino, two canvases by Ludovico Carracci, created for the Certosa di Bologna, usually kept in the deposits: the Coronazione di spine and the Flagellazione. The exhibition in Forlì and the Pinacoteca thus interact in a complementary way, emphasizing the central role of Bologna towards the artistic renewal in the Italian and European painting between the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. more information and updates www.pinacotecabologna.beniculturali.it/it/
