From 10 June to 31 August, the Museo di Palazzo Poggi hosts the exhibition A Scientific Encounter: The Complex, which explores the intersections between cultural and scientific heritage, focusing on the concept of “Complex” - a term coined by Luigi Ferdinando Marsili, who founded in Bologna the Institute of Sciences and Liberal Arts housed in Palazzo Poggi from 1711.
By juxtaposing the works of 25 internationally renowned artists with artefacts from the collections of the Museo di Palazzo Poggi, the exhibition A Scientific Encounter: The Complex aims to rediscover the relationship, at times intertwined and at times separate, between art and the natural sciences throughout history. The objects on display are reinterpreted as stimuli for developing new ways of observing and reflecting, thanks to the artistic imagination that brings to light hidden meanings and questions the linear and finalistic narratives of scientific progress.
