Founded in 1964, the Tokyo Ballet boasts an extensive repertoire that includes classical, neoclassical, and contemporary choreographic masterpieces. With over 26 tours and 270 performances abroad (a record in Japanese theater history), it has earned an enviable reputation both in Japan and internationally as a renowned Japanese dance company.
On Wednesday, November 27 at 8:30 PM, the performance will follow this program:
- It begins with the dreamlike world of the afterlife evoked by il Regno dele Ombre from La Bayadère, in a production conceived and directed by choreographer Natalia Makarova, based on the original by Marius Petipa, with music by Léon Minkus;
- Next is the Romeo and Juliet pas de deux, choreographed by Maurice Béjart, with music by Hector Berlioz;
- The evening concludes with another timeless masterpiece, also choreographed by Maurice Béjart: Le sacre du printemps set to the music of Stravinsky.
