The Conspiracy/Julius Caesar embellishes Shakespeare's play with fragments from Cicero's De Republica, which draw with precious evidence the political-philosophical debate that in the days when the conspiracy was hatched and carried out is presumed to have animated Rome's literary circles, ending with its own decline.
