Neri Marcorè will play the famous detective Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock Holmes – The Musical, directed by Andrea Cecchi, who also co-authored it alongside Alessio Fusi and Enrico Solito.
The story is set in Victorian London and focuses on the classic clash between good and evil. The tale begins on June 17, 1897, just days before the celebrations of Queen Victoria's 60th anniversary on the throne. Sherlock Holmes lives in a state of apathy, convinced that no criminals remain who could challenge him after the death of his nemesis, Moriarty. Although crimes continue, none have managed to capture his interest. However, everything changes one night when a man is murdered. Through a series of coded messages that only a brilliant mind like Holmes's could decipher, the victim urgently calls for his intervention. This is not about solving his own murder but rather preventing a much greater threat: an attack planned for the Queen's Jubilee, one that could result in hundreds of casualties, including the monarch herself.
"A remarkable cast and a gripping storyline immersed in the atmosphere of 1897 London, with its injustices, smoky alleys, and social tensions. Moments of lightness and drama will alternate, set to an orchestral soundtrack that will sweep the audience into a whirlwind of emotions," reads the director's notes.
