On Saturday, December 6, the Perséphone Association, under the artistic direction of Giambattista Giocoli and the organizational direction of Nella Belfiore, presents Pulcinella, All of a Sudden in two different cities: at 11:00 AM in Bologna at the Teatro del Baraccano (Via del Baraccano 2), and at 6:00 PM in Imola at the Imola Piano Academy “Incontri con il Maestro” (Mariele Ventre Hall, Palazzo Monsignani, Via Emilia 69).
Pulcinella, All of a Sudden features the Orchestra del Baraccano, conducted by Giambattista Giocoli—creator of the project—and Marco Sgrosso, narrator and director, who also authors the original dramaturgy inspired by Neapolitan traditional texts.
The performance, which premiered during the Respighi Bologna Festival, is part of the project of the same name designed by the Perséphone Association to celebrate the 25th centenary of the founding of Naples, and recognized as a Special Project 2025 by the Ministry of Culture – Directorate General for Performing Arts.
Through an immersive look into the atmosphere of extraordinary cultural vibrancy in 16th- and 17th-century Naples, Pulcinella, All of a Sudden aims to guide spectators to appreciate the liveliness of popular music, the natural spirit of commedia dell’arte, and the extraordinary popularity of the Neapolitan mask.
