Festival Mente Locale | Visions of the Territory

Mente Locale - Visioni sul Territorio (Local Minds - Visions on the Territory), now in its tenth edition, is the first Italian festival aimed at promoting and enhancing the history of the territory through documentary cinema.

This year marks its tenth edition, a significant anniversary celebrated by entrusting the artistic direction to Leena Pasanen, director of the European Documentary Network at DOK Leipzig and the Biografilm Festival. The programme also includes the return of Mente Locale Young - Italian Schools Tell the Territory.

Launched in 2014, it annually selects international documentary productions on the theme: stories of places, people, organisations, knowledge and traditions assigned to geographical areas.
The event upholds the values of equality, dialogue, freedom and respect for territorial integrity and believes in the possibility of sustainable living.

The screenings of the films in the Mente Locale - Visioni sul territorio 2023 competition will take place in independent cinemas and theatres in the provinces of Bologna and Modena, Emilia-Romagna.
The winners will be announced on Sunday 14 May.
