Bologna 3Z | “Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy”

Bologna 3Z: Stories of Change through Cinema, People and the Social Economy continues, the free public cultural programme promoted by Fondazione Yunus Italia ETS as part of Bologna Estate 2026.

On September 23, at the Fondazione Yunus Italia headquarters in via d’Azeglio 48, Bologna, the documentary Buy Now! The Shopping Conspiracy, directed by Nic Stacey, will be screened.

The story is told by an unusual narrator: an artificial intelligence that guides viewers through five stages exploring the mechanisms that shape contemporary consumerism.

From the artificial creation of needs to planned obsolescence, including the phenomenon of fast fashion, the myth of recycling, and the often hidden environmental and social costs, the film builds its narrative through first-hand accounts from people who helped design these systems, including former executives from Amazon, Unilever and Adidas.

The topic directly reflects the mission of Fondazione Yunus Italia: rethinking economic development models by placing people and the planet’s limits at the centre, in line with the vision of Social Business and the “World of Three Zeros”.
