A tribute to Maurice Ravel, a composer closely linked to the world of dance, on the 150th anniversary of his birth (1875–2025). Boléro – Ravel is the title of the new production based on the music of the French maestro, conceived by Roman patron Daniele Cipriani and entrusted to the skilled hands of choreographers Sasha Riva and Simone Repele, a creative duo who met while studying at John Neumeier's Hamburg Ballet and are now based in Geneva. Nicknamed the “poets of dance” for the delicate and elegant poetry they infuse into every single movement and gesture of the body, Riva&Repele shape this show into a sort of choreographed artistic biography, freely retracing the main stages of Ravel's life, animated by encounters with iconic figures in the art of Terpsichore such as Serge Diaghilev, Vaslav Nijinsky and Ida Rubinstein, while savouring his most famous compositions.
