Where: San Pietro in Casale and surrounding villages
When: January 31, 2026 - Children's Carnival and Carnival in the surrounding villages, February 8 and 15, 2026 - Historical Carnival in San Pietro in Casale
The historic San Pietro Carnival, which began as a tradition back in 1871, is an opportunity to watch parades of entertaining allegorical floats and masks.
The highlight of the festival takes place when the citizens gather in the square for the reading of the “will” of King Sandròn Spaviròn, a traditional mask of San Pietro in Casale who has been thrilling audiences with his biting satire since 1871. Carnival is in fact the time of year when Sandròn playfully recalls the names of people who have done something important for the town, both positive and negative. At the end of his irreverent will, a puppet representing the mask is burned according to tradition.
