Halloween: the spookiest events between towns and castles
Posted on 24 October 2022 From Bologna Welcome
The spookiest time of the year is on its way while the Bolognese castles are getting ready to welcome masked children and adults. Carved pumpkins, cobwebs and ... watch out for ghosts! Scary tales, Escape Rooms, tricks and treats are all waiting for you on Monday 31 October.
School of Witchcraft and Wizardry... at Rocchetta Mattei
Within the evocative setting of Rocchetta Mattei in Grizzana Morandi, the "School of Witchcraft and Wizardry" will be offering an interactive course dedicated to the world's most famous wizard. An event for young and old alike with the "Chamber of Secrets" where only the most talented wizards and witches will be able to face all the challenges and solve the mystery of the castle, before it is too late.
The meeting point will be at the castle's entrance at platform 9 and ¾.
Harry Potter or Jack O’Lantern? When in doubt, Manservisi Castle will accommodate both!
The Castle Gardens in Castelluccio di Alto Reno Terme will be hosting the Halloween Festival, with the manor being turned into a playground for children of all ages. Through a variety of different routes, children's make-up activities and the "dark forest", a spooky experience designed for older children, the youngest won't be disappointed.
The bravest will also be able to try the Escape Room 'School of Wizardry' , a Harry Potter-themed experience where they will be confronted with the much-feared dementors.
Chestnuts and chocolate for everyone before delving into the story of Jack O'Lantern with soap bubbles.
The evening will be completed by the traditional trick-or-treating in the streets of Castelluccio, a night-time walk in search of the glowing pumpkins out of the villagers' homes.
Freak Party in Dozza
The picturesque village of Dozza will also celebrate Halloween inside its evocative fortress. Starting at 6 p.m. the Rocca will open its gates with video projections, the forest and alley of fear, mummy bowling and much more, the whole to be followed by a guided tour of the Phantom Wall and the award ceremony for 'Miss Pumpkin'.
Bring your own pumpkin and carve it. The prettiest and scariest one will be awarded a prize!
A spine-chilling night at the Rocca di Imola
The Sforza Castle in Imola will be also striking out this Halloween. From 4 pm, fun adventures will be waiting for all children from 3 to 6 years, whereas the older ones can enjoy a special party starting 8pm. Dark presences will roam the castle for a chilling evening! Also make sure to check out the many other events around the city.
Beware the phantom lurking in the castle, hurry up and discover its secrets as well as the juicy treasure it guards within the manor walls. From 7 p.m., come and have dinner with street food while enjoying a childrens' show. Next, concert by Sunday House and DJ set for the grown-ups.
