Palazzo Isolani - the charming eighteenth-century historic palace located in Piazza Santo Stefano in the heart of Bologna - will be housing the exhibition "Nativity- I presepi di Ivan Dimitrov" (Nativity- the Ivan Dimitrov's Christmas cribs), from December 16th, 2017 to 16th January 2018. More than 300 scultures dedicated to the Nativity will be featured in this fascinating and richly decorated location. Each work is a unique piece and was personally hand formed and shaped by the artist using terracotta. Sizes range from 30 to 50 cm height. Showpieces of the exhibit are the cribs dedicated to eminent artists such as Durer, Leonardo, Rembrandt, Rubens from which Ivan Dimitrov took inspiration, reproducing some of their famous paintings with his terracotta sculptures.
The exhibition of Ivan Dimitrov's cribs took place several times in the '90s and late 2000s and has always been a very peculiar Christmas show in Bologna, highly appreciated by thousands of visitors. Ivan Dimitrov is a very well known sculptor. He is of Bulgarian origins but he has been living in Italy, in Bologna, since the 80s. He attended many important exhibitions and events in Italy and abroad. The exhibition has the patronage of Emilia-Romagna Region, of Municipality of Bologna - Quartiere Santo Stefano and of Cultural Association “Francesco Francia”. It is organized by Studio Santo Stefano art gallery.
